Stelios Petrakis Duet

  Stelios Petrakis is currently performing as a duet in both small and big halls with one of the following collaborating musicians. These duets also offer the capability to travel and to be incorporated into existing or projects with other musicians emanating from different regions, aiming at musical dialogue and co-creation. The members of these varying duets are: 


 Stelios Petrakis (lyra - lute) ,         Giorgis Xyloyris (lute - song).

 Stelios Petrakis (lyra) ,                  Achilles Persides (Guitars - lute).

 Stelios Petrakis (lyra-lute) ,           Pericles Papapetropoulos (Lute and saz)

 Stelios Petrakis (Lyra - lute) ,        Bijan Chemirani (Zarb - daff - cajon)

 

Any combination of the above musicians can be arranged so as to form a trio.

 

 

Stelios Petrakis  Group

      The intermediate forms of the ‘Stelios Petrakis Group’ , composed of four, five or six musicians, present in their concerts original compositions and traditional melodies from Crete, Greece and the related regions of Mediterranean. Songs and organic pieces become the object of musical dialogues between the friends and musicians whom although each one unique in their own right  act  jointly here as one whole. These intermediate forms are made up of:

 Pericles Papapetropoulos ( lute from Constantinople - saz)

 Maria Sjmoglou (Voice)

 Bijan Chemirani (Percussion)

Stelios Petrakis Ensemble

 Soloist: Ross Daly.

      Stelios Petrakis performs in larger concerts wherein the ensemble can expand to seven and eight individuals and also has the honour of incorporating the master musician and composer Ross Daly. This is the most accomplished concert proposal of Stelios Petrakis and since being established it has received exceptional reviews wherever it has been presented. It offers incredible musical interpretations from these unique musicians. This form consists of :

Stelios Petrakis is an active member of the following groups :
 
  • Notios Ihos - Achilleas Persides    

      It is a musical instrumental composition that was created in 1987. It strongly characterises the general concept of instrumental music within Greece and abroad. The pursuit of form, sound and geographical travels, improvisation and imagination is the main concern of: Achilleas Persidis, Ilias Tsagkaris, Panayotis Katsikiotis, Stelios Petrakis, Yannis Zevgolis, Giorgis Xylouris. Names and personalities from the field of music with important experience throughout the centuries meet in the “Southern Sound” in order to do their best. It is a musical group that revives the Greek sound and is classified among the most interesting musical proposals.
